About Pattarapol Chantkam
Pattarapol Chantkam is a Bachelor of Architecture graduate (Honours), majoring in Industrial Design
from the King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, having completed his studies there in 1995.
He later received an M.ID (Master of Industrial Design) degree from the Pratt Institute in New York and
an M.Phil (Master of Philosophy) degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art,
London in 2003. His dissertation focused on the development of materials as well as product design
processes, which included new applications for existing design materials.
Pattarapol began his professional career as a product designer for Centris Corporation Ltd., Bangkok,
Thailand. He then designed stationary products and organized an exhibition for ICFF 1998 at Gallery 91
in New York. He also designed for Tom Dixon, London, with several of his works displayed at the Milan
Furniture Fair 2004. Pattarapol has won many local and international design awards, including Second Prize
at the NGT Awards, the Show 2003 from the Royal College of Art, an Honourable Mention award at th
e Honda"Car for the Futureิ event, the Pratt Institute in New York, Third Prize in Metal Design from th
e Department of Export Promotion in 1995, and a bronze medal from the International Eyeglass Design
Competition in Japan in 1993. He was also a contributor of art, architecture, and design for ART 4D
magazine in London from 1999 - 2004.
Pattarapol is now a lecturer at the Department of Industrial Design, School of Architecture and Design
(SOA+D), King Mongkut University of Technology, Thonburi (KMUTT), Bangkok, Thailand.
