Throughout April, TCDC Chiang Mai invites everyone to enjoy the services of TCDC Resource Center and Material ConneXion Chiang Mai free of charge, and join us in an exploration of a new perspective on Chiang Mai in our first exhibition “Chiang Mai revisited”.

 

“Chiang Mai revisited” Exhibition

"Chiang Mai Revisited" opens up a new aspect of Chiang Mai in the city's mind frame driven from within.  There will be design and installation work to represent the expeditions, the opportunity searches and the obstacles in the city development that are hidden in major parts of the city.

Join the exploration of Chiang Mai as the second home of TCDC through the study of the complex dynamics of this city and its diverse communities, along with a presentation of 9 local stories via 9 maps illustrating each community’s belief, imagination and distinctive skill, such as Lanna Street Art View 2013, Chiang Mai Coffee Culture, Nimman Haemin Art and Design Promenade.

“Chiang Mai...through the maps” Exhibition

As part of the exhibition “Chiang Mai Revisited”, this mini-exhibition focuses on the creative activities in Chiang Mai on different dimensions through 8 maps. The maps are presented as tools to communicate the thinking process of 8 groups of activists, from a street artist who knows every inch of the city, an architect who works with different communities, to environmentalists and academics who see problems and initiate sustainable solutions, to tell Chiang Mai stories from a local point of view.

“Designing a Happy Journey: Reviving Kyushu through creativity” Exhibition

Learn the story behind business success through the case study of Kyushu Railway Company. Not only from the advancement of technology and effective management, but the company also achieved a winning combination of “Kyushu’s elements”, “business acumen” and “design process”. This principle was applied to every aspect of the rail services and the company became Japan’s biggest provider of sightseeing railway operations. It also helped boost local businesses both in agricultural and tourism sectors, and generated income which allowed more local development and better visiting experience.

Entertainment Creative Workshop II
