The concert series is part of the celebrations to His Majesty the King's 80th birthday on December 5, 2006. The performance of the complete cycle of Beethoven's piano sonatas in Bangkok marks a new milestone for the history of piano playing in Thailand. The organisers feel that gathering the kingdom's most eminent piano artists for this unprecedented project will make a fitting tribute to the beloved monarch, who is a prolific musician himself.
