Tanning Lotion, Whitening Lotion and Verily Magazine
The limitation in the beauty world is now challenged as people can change their looks as they wish: tanning lotions that answer to the Western values, which associate tanned skin with good health and wealth; and whitening lotions that answer to the Eastern values, which associate white skin to high status and social class. These beauty products reinforce the belief that nothing is impossible. It is probably one of the few remaining beliefs left in the new millennium. However, the Verily Magazine, published in the US, is the first to lay down the policy of refraining from using the Photoshop software program to change the models’ shape, facial characteristics or skin conditions. This new concept that began in 2011 is based on the belief that people are born with their own particular kind of beauty and the traces of aging should not be covered up or changed but should be admired as showing the value of time. The world today allows the freedom even to choose the values that respond to our own reasons and thoughts.
