Blouses and Bags: Collection 132 5. by Issey Miyake
The software program that calculates with perfect accuracy and precision the geometric shapes and patterns of the Japanese origami art has become instrumental in the creation of avant-garde, minimalist apparel and accessories. In 2010, Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake launched his 132 5. Collection - his new collection from Reality Lab, the research and development team under his supervision. The team comprises engineers and young designers. The number ‘1’ refers to a single piece of cloth, ‘3’ and ‘2’ refer to its three-dimensional shape that becomes two-dimensional when folded, while ‘5’, which is separated from the other numbers by a space, refers to the 5th dimension that temporarily occurs when the owner breathes life into the item by putting it on. Made of recycled polyester fibers (polyethylene terephthalate- PET) which are dyed in a mini-factory, the blouses and bags in the 132 5. Collection are elegant, light-weight and highly flexible.
