Life of Terada Mokei
- When: 2 July - 11 August 2013 | 10:30-21:00
- Where: The Lobby & TCDC Resource Center
The exhibition “Life of Terada Mokei” explores the potential for modeling, which is created by scaling things down and giving them detail, through models. This reflects our belief that when real items are replaced with models, the latter have an essence of reality, stuffed with dreams, and the potential to become more vibrant than the originals. Terada Mokei also hopes to convey the fun of assembling models and imagining the same.
In an architectural model, the composition of human and object models are also neccessary in illustrating the real size of the building and its functionality. Naoki Terada, architect and founder of Terada Mokei, originally produced the model kit for his work, which later created the 1/100 scale paper models called “1/100 Architectural Model Accessories Series” as his first design.
Terada has also created models that reflect the identity of world’s major cities; Tokyo, New York and Amsterdam. In this exhibition, the special model of “Bangkok” will be displayed with the symbols of Thailand such as Tuk Tuk, public motorcycle, and street food through the perspective of this brilliant Japanese architect.
