From Le Corbusier to the Helvetica font, Swiss design pioneers have produced some of the most influential product and graphic design of the 20th century.

Explore a Swiss way of life through design made in Switzerland.

From Le Corbusier to the Helvetica font, Swiss design pioneers have produced some of the most influential product and graphic design of the 20th century.

CRISS+CROSS is a reference to both the cross on the Swiss flag and the wide range of design disciplines, both past and present, in the selection of artifacts. Design is a mirror of a country’s way of life and its history. Furniture, household appliances, clothes, sports equipment, jewelry, bags, books and the like more than just implement everyday life. They are also signs of who belongs to whom and who wants to belong.

CRISS+CROSS reveals that there is more to Switzerland than just chocolate, watch and Swiss army knives. With more than 400 artifacts exhibited in and around seven large wooden crates, the exhibition shows how engineers and designers collaborate – in the world of graphic design, in fashion or in the creation of objects of everyday use. CRISS+CROSS combines the prolific diversity of present-day products with Switzerland’s rich tradition in design. Those pioneers have set standards that contemporary designers are building on and developing, each in their own manner.
