“Creative City” is a progression of the creative economy policy to develop the country from the city level. As each city has its own strength, development must be made to compliment its culture, way of life and unique identity, and in the way that encourages creative businesses to grow and thrive.

The “Creative City: Bangkok’s creative potentials” seminar is held to explore Bangkok’s development direction in order to create a nurturing environment for thinkers and creators, both local and international, who are the economic driving force of the city and the country.

The seminar will begin with a presentation of Bangkok’s creative potential in term of public administration and a survey on Bangkok’s fashion industry by Dr. Peeradorn Kaewlai, Chairperson of the City Research Unit and lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Thammasat University.

The seminar will continue with a lecture on creative city development case studies by Stephen Pimbley, an English architect who has delivered several city landscape restructuring projects worldwide. Next, Bertram Schultze will discuss how he reinvented century-old factories in former East Germany into a famous art and cultural complex “Spinnerei” which attracts visitors from all around the world.

This seminar is part of TCDC’s Creative City project which aims to raise awareness and understanding on the development of creative city as an integral element of the government’s ‘creative economy’ policy.
