“Thai-Danish Creative Design”

To develop a successful product, both in terms of design and sales, an entrepreneur needs to study and understand the meaning of good design. Learning from examples of outstanding products from all over the world is one way to achieve that understanding.

Among a great number of successful product design in global market, Denmark is widely recognised as one of the world leaders of modern design. Danish design is renowned for its simplicity, functionality, and timeless elegance.

In collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Denmark, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, TCDC organises “Thai-Danish Creative Design” workshop by three leading Danish designers from Danish Design Center network.

10.10 hrs.Introduction to Danish Design: Danish Design History, Denmark as a Design Nation, Danish Design DNA – Danish design schools by Charlotte Hoeg Andersen, Project Manager, the Danish Design Centre (DDC)
10.40 hrs.A Danish Design Approach to Product Development:
Design finding, user studies, sketches and design philosophy by Thomas Harrit, Industrial Designer and Partner of Harrit Sorensen
11.15 hrs.Coffee Break (self-service)
11.20 hrs.A Danish Approach to Furniture Design by Tine mouritsen, Furniture Designer and Partner of Tine Mouritsen Aps
12.00 hrs.Lunch
13.00 hrs.Introduction to Workshop
13.15 hrs.Workshop: Design driven new market introduction
The workshop aims at introducing the participants to the Danish Design process, methods and tools. (Charlotte Høeg Andersen, Thomas Harrit and Tine Mouritsen will facilitate the workshop.)
Note: The participants will be divided into five groups. Two groups work with Danish products being introduced to the Thailand market. Three groups work with Thai products being introduced to the Danish marked. (15 min introduction, 1 ½ hour workshop, 15-20 min presentation)
15.00 hrs. Business Session
Two speakers with extensive experiences in designing, distributing and marketing Danish products in Thailand share their business perspectives
“Branding and Marketing of Design in Thailand based on Pandora Jewellery Case” by Tanapong Chirapanidchakul
“Bringing a Design Idea into a Business” by JJannie Mari Lindemann Christensen
16.00 hrs.Touch and feel design samples session. (Participants may bring some designed items for advice and comments from Danish designers.)

Requirement for participants
1. Open for TCDC members only
2. Work experience in design industries, especially product design
3. Design graduate
4. Able to communicate in English
5. Able to attend all sessions of the workshop

4. Participants may bring their products for design advice from Danish experts.
