TCDC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly host a lecture by Rachel Troye, Professor, Head of the Institute of Design and Pro-Rector, The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) and Ted Matthews, Advisor at DesignLab for Social Innovation and Research Fellow at AHO.

The design being taught, produced and researched at AHO is representative of the breadth of design in Norway: from classical industrial design to systems thinking. The two leading designers from Norway will also focus on explaining and exemplifying DesignLab for Social Innovation, their latest initiative which is developed in collaboration with the Foundation for Design, Architecture and Urbanism (Norsk Form).

DesignLab for Social Innovation is a new collaborative platform that lets design contribute to ‘real life’ socially focused projects, with design acting as a mediator between users and ‘social benefit providers’, and utilising design methods for delivery of new social innovation. The project aims to instigate new education for next generation social designers, experience for existing designers, new research in design for social innovation, and hopefully a social innovation design model.
