Lecture by Pattarapol Chantkam, Lecturer at the Department of Industrial Design, School of Architecture and Design (SOA+D), King Mongkut University of Technology, Thonburi (KMUTT)
TCDC, in collaboration with Material ConneXion® Bangkok, presents “Design for the Environment” , a lecture by Pattarapol Chantkam, Lecturer at the Department of Industrial Design, School of Architecture and Design (SOA+D), King Mongkut University of Technology, Thonburi (KMUTT) and Consultant on materials and production processes at Material ConneXion Bangkok.
In the past few decades, we have been hearing numerous reports about global warming, rising sea levels, depletion of oil supplies, (the primary raw material for plastics) and a decrease in forests worldwide. These warnings suggest that we should seriously make efforts to care for our environment. This effort is commonly referred to as Eco, green or environmentally-friendly design.
Design for the environment is not only about using natural, safe, recycled or discarded materials, but also includes material selection, design methods, manufacturing processes, branding and marketing, as well as product life assessment.
In this lecture, the audience will gain a better understanding about eco-design, and hopefully be inspired to become green designers or manufacturers, who contribute positively to the environment and society.
Designers, entrepreneurs, students, and the public are invited to sign up for the lecture.
