The focus of design has increasingly shifted from "product" to "service". “Service Design” not only helps businesses meeting the complex needs of modern consumers and creating better impact, it also improves the quality of life in global community.

TCDC in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts "Service Design" seminar by two experts from Norway: Prof. Dr. Simon Clatworthy and Ted Matthews from The Oslo School of Architecture and Design. They will share how service design will become a new channel to develop Thai design to boost business as well as quality of life.

About the Speakers

Prof. Dr. Simon Clatworthy
Prof. Dr. Simon Clatworthy received a PhD in the area of Service Design. He is the professor of Interaction Design at Oslo School of Architecture.
Simon was a project coordinator in customer service for major service providers in Norway. In 2011, He was the leader of Centre for Service Innovation Theme 1: Brand and Customer Experience. This CSI programme was a partnership between Norway’s major service providers and research institutes in Norway.
His experiences in Service Design also includes a workshop-based project developing
new service concepts for an international telecommunications provider, service innovation in healthcare as part of an Accenture project for the Norwegian Health Service and the use of AT-ONE for Telenor, a project looking at how Service Design can improve customer service for Telenor, with focus upon touch-point design and the transition from brand strategy to customer experience.

Ted Matthews
Ted Matthews is a lecturer at The Oslo School Architecture and Design while studying for a PhD directed towards development of service innovation tools. He is also an advisor for Designlab for Social Innovation, a collaboration between AHO and Norsk Form, the initiative examines the role design has as a driver of social innovation.
Ted received a MA in Industrial Design from Central St. Martins College of Art & Design, London and has worked in design and city planning consultancy focusing on cooperation of the community and creating social innovation for public organisations such as State department for roads, State department for environment, Norwegian Fashion Institute and Oslo School of Marketing.
